Obituary: Mrs. Glenda J. Himes

 

Mrs. Glenda J. Himes of Slocomb passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at Hartford Health Care. She was 78. 

Family and friends will gather at Jay Funeral Home in Jay, FL at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 1, 2022 and proceed to Cobbtown Church cemetery at noon for a graveside service. 

Mrs. Himes was born February 29, 1944 in Cobbtown, FL to the late Steven L. and Rosie Taylor Cobb. Glenda attended Enterprise State Junior College where she studied accounting. She worked as budget and maintenance analyst at Ft. Rucker for 35 years. She was a member of Kolb Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. After marrying Maurice C. “Bud” Himes in 1978, they moved to Alabama after his retirement in 1981. 

In addition to her parents, two sisters: Alice Geiberger, and Doris Parton; two brothers: Leslie Cobb and Clinton Cobb, all preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her husband, Maurice C. “Bud” Himes; two stepsons: Maurice C. Himes, Baltimore, MD, and Tad Pinney, San Diego, CA; five grandchildren: Liam Himes, Baltimore, MD, Rachel Morgan, Nashville, TN, Emily McComb, Indiana, Josh Brinkley, Baltimore, MD and Amanda Culver, Baltimore, MD; nine great grandchildren; sister, Mertice Long, Jay, FL; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
