Mrs. Jessie Lee Brown Collins, of R.C. Collins Road, Chancellor, Alabama went home to be with the Lord Friday, February 24, 2012.  She was 87.

 

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Lewis Harper and Rev. Greg Bryant officiating.  Burial will follow in the Collins Park Family Cemetery in Chancellor with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, February 27, from 6 until 8 p.m.   

 

Mrs. Collins was born October 17, 1924, in Coffee County, Alabama to the late Dennis and Lela Mae Pitts Brown.  She was an avid gardener and she loved flowers.  Mrs. Collins was a faithful and devoted member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Chancellor.

 

In addition to her parents, her husband, R.C. Collins, and a grandson, Ansara Collins, as well as five brothers and five sisters, all preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include one daughter, Aurora Collins Clark (James H.), Geneva; two sons: Jerry Collins (Geraldine), Warner Robins, GA, Sierra Collins (Virginia), Chancellor; one sister, Annie Earl Brown Donnell, Los Angeles, CA; seven grandchildren: Cynthia Bonita Collins, Jerri Michelle Collins, Olivia Clark McCray (Michael), Tenia LaNica Collins, Contessa Clark McCloud, Tiffany Clark Perkins (Leon) and Amber Collins; fourteen great-grandchildren: Ashlee Nycole Collins, Christopher Eric Hart, Heather Latrice McCray, James Richard Hart, Mychel “Alex” Richardson-Seyl, Kristin Noel Clark McCloud, Jessica Elizabeth Collins, Erine Jamal Collins, Mychal A. “Drez” Richardson, Michael Chadwin McCray, Timothy Aaron Clark McCloud, Joradan Howard Clark, Alexander Lee Perkins and Victoria Grace Perkins; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
