Mrs. Jo Versie Peacock Holley of Samson, Alabama went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, April 27, 2012.  She was 79.

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, in the Piney Grove Assembly of God Church with Rev. Mike Medley and Rev. Jack Chancey officiating.  Mrs. Holley will be placed into the church one hour prior to service time.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, April 29, from 6 until 8 p.m.

 

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Pine Grove Assembly of God Cemetery Fund.

 

Mrs. Holley was born September 27, 1932, in Coffee County, Alabama to the late John Wesley and Ella Faye Simmons Peacock.  For more than 30 years she owned Ma Holley’s Daycare where she provided loving care to many children in the area.  She was a very faithful, loving and devoted wife and mother.  She was a very hard worker and a wonderful southern cook.  She was also an everyday fixture at Crews’ BBQ.  Piney Grove Assembly of God Church was very blessed to have her as member for more than 40 years.

 

In addition to her parents, a grandson, Chris Vann, a great-grandson, William Griffin and four brothers: Ray, Clem, Edward and Lamar Peacock, all preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Athenian F. Holley; four daughters: Yolanda Kimble, Gail Chancey (Charlie), Jennie Mock (Ronnie) and Kaye Chancey (Jack), all of Samson; three sisters: Faye Lawson (Conrad), Nellie Mock, Lois Mock (Roger), all of Samson; two brothers: Wesley Peacock, Samson, Billy Peacock (Linda), Tuscaloosa, AL; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a number of special nieces, nephews, other extended family and church family.
