SKIPPERVILLE…  Mrs. Joyce Gassett Watson Hyatt, a resident of Skipperville, died Monday morning, July 5, 2021, at her home. She was 83.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 7, 2021, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Weed officiating. Burial will follow in Beersheba Cemetery near Skipperville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.


           Mrs. Hyatt, daughter of the late Gary Ford “Sam” Gassett and Willie Mae Brogden Gassett, was a native and lifelong resident of Skipperville. She was retired from the Dale County Board of Education at G.W. Long School as a lunchroom worker. Mrs. Hyatt was a member of Morgan Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Watson and John Hyatt; brothers, Gary Julius “Cowboy” Gassett and Jack Gassett.


            Surviving relatives include her daughter, Angie Wynn (Keith), Ariton; three sons, Pat Watson (Cara) and Tim Watson, all of Skipperville; Jerry Watson, Baker Hill, AL; grandchildren, Patrick Watson, Derrick Watson, Haley Watson, Caitlin Engelman, and Jackson Wynn; great-grandchildren, Marli Watson, Kinley Watson, Ansley Watson, Bella Watson, Mattie Ruiz, Railey Myers, and Tinley Ingram.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Jeff Watson, Joe Watson, Johnny Watson, Bob Watson, Dallas Gray, and Paul Morrison.
