Mrs. Katherine Spann Saunders of Samson passed away on Monday, November 28, 2011.  She was 97.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev. Sam Totten officiating.  Burial will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends prior to the service Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

  Mrs. Saunders was born on October 30, 1914 to the late Benjamin Hale Spann and Emma Spann.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Saunders; and five siblings.

 She is survived by two sons, Charles E. Saunders (Wanda) of Birmingham and Neil S.”Bobby” Saunders (Maria) of Samson; two daughters, Joyce Hamm (Wayne) of Birmingham and Sherry Saunders of Samson; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
