Mrs. Lavinia Beasley McKnight, 86, a resident of Newton, Alabama, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019, at the home of her daughter.


Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 13, 2019, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Mike McKnight officiating. Interment will follow in Union Presbyterian Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P. M.


Mrs. McKnight was born April 19, 1933 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Wilson Herbert Beasley and Brama Jewell Garner Beasley. She grew up in the Arguta Community and lived in Newton until moving to Dothan where she resided until becoming ill.  Mrs. McKnight worked as a licensed practical nurse with Dale County Hospital and then with Flowers Hospital for twenty-five years until her retirement. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading, preaching, gospel music and being with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Smith McKnight; two sisters, Jimmie Regina Beasley and Jewell Elsie Beasley.


Survivors include two daughters Sheila Washbond Ingram (Myron) of Red Level and Sherry McKnight Lindley (Jon) of Newton; two grandchildren, Allison Lindley and Jonathan Lindley of Dothan; one brother, Ralph G. Beasley (Linda) of Montgomery; her best friend, Myra Lindley of Newton.  Many nieces and nephews also survive.


Special thanks to the fifth-floor staff, Dr. Jennings, ER Staff, and all others involved with her care at Flowers Hospital for their care and compassion. Also special thanks to the staff of Covenant Care Hospice for the care and comfort they gave.  Thanks to family and friends for their love and support.
