Mrs. Lena Bell Thorne of Samson passed away at Wiregrass Nursing Home on May 28, 2012. She was 85. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with the Reverends Wesley Spivey, Donnie Earles and Phillip Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. 

 

Mrs. Thorne was born in Geneva County, Alabama on June 11, 1926 to the late George and Hattie Treadway Richardson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Thorne; two sons, Gerald and Samuel Johnson; and one brother Carlos Richardson.

 

She is survived by one daughter, Louise White (Donnie) of Samson; two sons, O’Neal  Johnson (LaFon) of Samson and Harold Richardson (Martha) of Ocala, FL;  two granddaughters, Kam Johnson of Mobile, AL and Pam Wright of Winter Garden, FL; one grandson, Tony Johnson (Angel) of Skipperville, AL; five great grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
