Mrs. Janie Margaret Hidle of Slocomb passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her children.  She was 90.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Slocomb with Rev. Dan Raley and Bro. Jonathan Shepard officiating.  Burial will follow in Burns Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Hartford Retirement Village, 12196 East State Highway 52, Hartford, AL  36344. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. 

Mrs. Hidle was born on January 4, 1922 in Hartford, AL to the late John Malcolm and Janie Shields Ward.  She was a faithful member of Slocomb First Assembly of God Church.  Margaret spent most of her life caring for her home and family.  She also retired from the Slocomb school lunchroom. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harding Hidle; sister, Sarah Montin; granddaughter, Darlene Hicks; and a son-in-law, Wendal Hicks.

Survivors include five daughters:  Sandra Hicks, Ann Harris (Roy) all of Slocomb, Delores Killian (Jerry) of Clover, SC, Susan Dillard (Phillip) of Hartford, Mary Fugate (Dwayne) of Malvern; three sons:  Don Hidle (Barbara), Dennis Hidle (Dr. Maryann) all of Slocomb, Tim Hidle (Linda) of Dothan; two sisters:  Mary Mathis, Lou Jean Combs both of Panama City, FL; 22 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the employees of CareSouth, Gentiva Hospice and Hartford Retirement Village for the wonderful care given to our Mother.
