Mrs. Margaret Louise “Margie” Dockery Smith, a resident of Midland City, Alabama, died Monday, December 20, 2021, at her home.  She was 88 years old.


A private memorial service will be held for Mrs. Smith at a later date.  However,

Mrs. Smith was born March 12, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Elmer Rae Dockery and Louise Williams Dockery.  She had lived in various places while her husband served in the United States Navy and United States Army.   Mrs. Smith worked with Civil Service, Department of the Army Civilian Affairs, until her retirement. She was an active member of Newton United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith loved taking care of her family, was a Buddy Reader at Newton Elementary School and was a founding member of Newton News.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edgar Odell Smith.


Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Terri Smith of Lebanon, Illinois; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patti and Greg Crosslin of Destin, Florida, Sandi Henderson of Midland City, Alabama. Seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren also survive.
