Mrs. Mary Evelyn Smith, age 94, left this world on February 18, 2021. Her transition was at peace, surrounded by all of family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Mary was born July 17, 1926 in Houston County to the late Robert Lee Burnham, Sr. and Linnie Irene McIntyre. She enjoyed fishing and working in her yard, gardening. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Hubert Smith; her siblings and many special friends.
She is survived by her son, Mike Knight; her daughter, Jan Lynch (Ron); her grandchildren, Shane Chumney (JJ), Shannon Prine (Patrick), Jayna Hicks (Andrew), and Kristen Beckham (Blaine); nine great-grandchildren who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly; special friend and companion, Robert Money; special neighbor, Kyle Wells; her pet dog, Butch; and a community she loves.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Seale officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service.
The family would like to thank her doctors, hospice, and friends for taking care of Mary and making her comfortable.
