ELBA…Mrs. Mary Holder Ray, a resident of Elba (formerly of Midland City), died Sunday evening, January 9, 2022, in Medical Center Enterprise. She was 91.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 14, 2022, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Presley officiating. Graveside services will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery, Dothan. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.


            Flowers will be accepted.


            Mrs. Ray was born September 4, 1930, in Pike County, near Brundidge. She lived in various location in the United States and overseas while her husband served in the United States Army. Mrs. Ray formerly lived in Midland City before moving to Elba in 2017. She was preceded in death by her father, Abe Holder, mother, Mary Frances Flowers Jones, husband, Jimmie Ray (SFC, United States Army, Retired), a sister, Lucille Pearce, a brother, Robert Martin, three daughters, Kris Vaillencourt, Martha Kelley, and Tina Field.


            Surviving relatives include her sister, Linda S. Nelson, Elba; two daughters, Betty Jo Ramirez (Steve) and Eva Ray Mendoza (Al), all of California; a son, Roger Hamm (Wanda), Georgia; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
