Obituary: Mrs. Mary L. McMicken

 

 

 

Mrs. Mary L. McMicken went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. She was 84. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Sampey Memorial Baptist Church in Ramer with her husband, Rev. J. Robert McMicken officiating. Burial will follow in the Ramer Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. Those wishing to send floral tributes may do so by having them delivered to Sampey Memorial Baptist Church, 5394 AL-94, Ramer, AL 36069. 

Mrs. McMicken was born August 8, 1937 in Birmingham to the late Alfred Thomas and Elva Vance Kemp. Mary was an ideal wife of 65 years and a pastor’s wife for 52 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed. 

In addition to her parents, her daughter, Joy E. McMicken and sister, Denise Kemp Presley preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her husband, Rev. J. Robert McMicken, Montgomery; son, James Tracy McMicken and wife Sue, Montgomery; grandchildren: Ashley Sims Lockwood (Stewart), Kelli McMicken and Wesley McMicken; great grandchildren: Sawyer and Levi Lockwood; sisters: Sara Kemp Fletcher, Birmingham and Peggy Kemp Mason, Birmingham; brother, Tom Kemp, Hartsell; several nieces, nephews and special friends.
