OZARK…Mrs. Maurine Bryan Shirley, a resident of Ozark, died late Saturday afternoon, January 27, 2024, in Dale Medical Center. She was 82.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 29, 2024, in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in the Arguta Community with Reverend Buddy Hood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.

            Maurine “Reen” Shirley was born in Goshen, Alabama on October 30, 1941, and was a mother to many. She devoted her life to family and raising children, four of her own and countless others, through the home daycare she operated for more than two decades. She loved her family, her church, and was especially proud of her grandchildren. Mrs. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, James Bryan and Woodie Jordan Bryan, her husband, Rickey Shirley, and her brother, Gerald Bryan.

            Surviving relatives include her three daughters, Michelle Kelley, Stephanie Forrester (John), and Brenda Shirley; her son, Shawn Shirley (Lisa); her grandchildren, Drew Kelley, Jackson Kelley, and Madison Kelley; sister, Phyllis Bryan; brother, Robert Bryan; several very dear nieces and nephews.
