   Mrs. Melba Kate “Katie” Pippins Segars, a resident of Skipperville, passed away early Thursday morning, March 21, 2024, in Dale Medical Center. She was 89 years old.


   Funeral services for Mrs. Segars will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, March 23, 2024, from Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Harold Peters officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.


   The family will receive friends in the church Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.


   Mrs. Segars was born October 20, 1934 in Fadette, Alabama to the late Artice and Mary Idaliah Pippins. She taught school for twenty-two years with the Barbour County School System in Clio until her retirement. Mrs. Segars attended Fadette Assembly of God Church during her early years and was now an active member of Salem Baptist Church where she was formerly Church Clerk and Adult Sunday School Teacher. She also served with the Skipperville Volunteer Fire Department as Treasurer. Mrs. Segars loved traveling, camping and reading.


   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Allan Buford Segars; and her brother, Joseph L. Pippins. Survivors include her husband, Bennie B. Segars; one son, Ricky Segars; Brenda Segars, Nina Segars and grandchildren, Sabrina Peters (Matt) and Samantha Taylor; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Taylor and Caleb Taylor.


   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Salem Baptist Church General Fund, C/O Mr. Don Johnson, 8008 County Road 33, Skipperville, Alabama 36374.
