Merle Henderson White, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away July 15, 2012. She was 86 years old.

Services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 11:00 am in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Clayton Nowell officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Southern Heritage directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center 1314 Westgate Parkway, Suite 2 or P.O. Box 1170 Dothan, Alabama 36302

A lifelong resident of Houston County, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Lester Henderson and Mamie Kennedy Henderson. She was a graduate of Ashford High School. She started working with the Seaboard Coastline Railroad at the age of seventeen and retired as a yard master after forty five years of service. She has been a member of Memphis Baptist Church for the past 50 years. She was a member of the Faithful Sunday School class.

Along with her parents, Merle is preceded in death by her husband, O.D. White.

Survivors include one son, Harold White and his wife Jennifer, of Mobile, Alabama; two daughters, Marie Hall and her husband Bruce and Dianne Dimick and husband Justin, all of Dothan, Alabama; two sisters, Sue Fryer and Nell Patrick, both of Dothan, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Sarah Bauman, Emily Bauman, Daniel Bauman, Stephanie Simmons and her husband Justin, Robert Culver, Tessa Dimick, Andrew White, Austin Enfinger, and Garrett Enfinger; and one great grandchild.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bruce Fryer, Paul Fryer, Tim Patrick, Daniel Bauman, Robert Culver, and Justin Simmons.
