ARITON… Mrs. Miriam Sherrer, a resident of Ariton, died Wednesday afternoon, February 23, 2022, at the home of her sister, Ann Danner. She was 85.


            Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise with Pastor Jeff Downing officiating. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


            In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Ariton Rescue Squad, PO Box 183, Ariton, AL 36311.


            Mrs. Sherrer, daughter of the late Wirt and Eva Newsome, was born February 20, 1937, in Geneva County. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Ariton. Mrs. Sherrer loved making people laugh and being a waitress at several restaurants in the area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Sherrer; son, Darrell Sherrer; three sisters, Frankie Jenkins, Edith Gales, and Winona Allen; sister-in-law, Dee Newsome; special brother-in-law, Ronnie Danner.


            Surviving relatives include two sisters, Margie Whittington, Ozark and Ann Danner, Ariton; a brother, Joe Newsome, New Brockton; niece, Sandy McDaniel (Tim); several nieces and nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Tim McDaniel, Jamey McDaniel, James Whittington, William Carroll, Dennis Walker, and Eric Sutton.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to Community Hospice for their dedication and care shown to the entire family as well as Mrs. Sherrer.
