Ima Myrtle Cobb, a resident of Hartford, Alabama died Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Westside Terrace. She was 96.


Private family graveside services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Hartford City cemetery with Rev. Bruce Spivey officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 PM until 6 PM Friday, August 26, 2022 at Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Hartford Baptist Church, 105 E. Burch St, Hartford, AL 36344.


Myrtle was born January 9, 1926 in Houston County, Alabama to the late James Monroe and Bessie Magdalene Hatcher Tindell. She was raised in the Madrid- Cottonwood area and later moved to Hartford where she made her home. Myrtle worked for General Telephone as a Telephone Operator and later became a Beautician owning and operating Cobb’s Corner Coiffeurs for many years. She was a member of Hartford Baptist and the Valerie Thomley Sunday School class.


Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents; husband, S. Sgt David Cobb; sister, Olene Patterson; brother, Quillan Tindell; daughter in law, Ann Cobb and a son in law, Billy Joe Shepard.


Survivors include her four children, Neal and Jenny Cobb, Bill Cobb, Janice Shepard and Carol and Terrill Culverhouse; grandchildren, Hal Cobb, Lee Cobb (Angie), Craig Culverhouse (Kendra), Lance Shepard (Sonja), Chuck Cobb, Amy Shepard, Corey Culverhouse, David Cobb (Lauren), Kim Cobb and Kelli Hicks (Brian); 14 greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
