Mrs. Myrtle May Laurence Daniel of Samson, Alabama passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013.  She was 90.

 

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, at Prewitt’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Hornbeck, LA with Rev. Wayne Chance officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the church Monday beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continue until service time.

 

Mrs. Daniel was born March 13, 1923 in Hornbeck, LA to the late William Franklin and Emma Jean McCollister Laurence.  She enjoyed cooking and fishing.  She was a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Samson, AL.

 

In addition to her parents, her husband Glen H. Daniel, daughter-in-law, Cynthia Herrington Daniel, as well as seven siblings: Rilla Prewitt, Ruthie Hilton, Davis, Nathan, Richard, Homer and Cecil Laurence, all preceded her in death.

 

Survivors include two sons: Nickey Wayne Daniel, Shreveport, LA and Donald Ray Daniel (Doris), Samson; three granddaughters: Amanda Daniel Phillips (Carl), Shannon Daniel Cory (Chris), all of Shreveport, LA and Penny Daniel Herndon (Don), Newnan, GA; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Maggie Laurence Harvey, Pitkin, LA; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Carl Phillips, Chris Cory, Don Herndon, Daniel Pierce, Dalton Pierce, Donny Herndon and Jake Herndon.
