Obituary: Mrs. Nellie Myrl Smith Slaughter


 


Mrs. Nellie Myrl Smith Slaughter of Dothan went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 5, 2022.  She was 85. 


Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Slocomb with Rev. Brad Price officiating.  Interment will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home officiating.  


The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time.  


Mrs. Slaughter was born September 4, 1937, in Geneva County to the late James Robert and Minnie Bell Andrews Smith. Nellie loved baking, family get-togethers, and enjoyed watching Alabama football.  She was a great woman of faith, member of the First Baptist Church of Slocomb, and will be dearly missed. 


In addition to her parents, a grandson, James Wesley Slaughter; six sisters; four brothers all preceded her in death. 


Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Jimmy Slaughter; sons: Dennis Slaughter (Kerrie), and Darwin Slaughter (Donna); grandchildren: Caroline Slaughter, Abigail Slaughter, Jacob MacFadder (Taylor), Jennifer MacFadder, and Ryan MacFadder (Jennifer); special niece, Debbie Jones (Sammy) several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
