Yvonne Armstrong passed away peacefully on December 3, 2021, at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna, AK. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church. The family will have visitation one hour prior to services. Keahey is entrusted with these services.
She was born in Banks, AL to Dossie and Norma Austin in 1934. Yvonne moved to Alaska in 1964 with her husband Wiley and two young sons. After a short time in Alaska, the Armstrong's settled in Chugiak and remained there until retiring and returning back to Alabama in 1987. After Wiley's passing, Yvonne moved back to Alaska in 2014 to be close to family.
Yvonne loved to travel. After leaving Alaska in 1987 she and Wiley made many driving trips across the country, spending months at a time living in their RV. She had every route, campground and friends house along the way marked and was always the best navigator and co-pilot!
To say that Yvonne enjoyed creating crafts is an understatement. She was always working on multiple projects and loved to create gifts for friends, family and even strangers. In fact, if you knew Yvonne, you probably own some of her handiwork.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her loving husband Wiley and survived by her sons: Frank Armstrong of Kasilof AK, Bobby Armstrong (Holly) Anchorage AK and her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
