Mrs. Okalee Gunter, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away July 3, 2023. She was 87 years old.
Graveside services will be held at Memory Hill Cemetery at 9 AM, Friday, July 7, 2023 with Reverend Tim Willis officiating.
Mrs. Gunter was born in Dale County and grew up in Ozark, Alabama. She was a graduate of Dale County High School and Riley Business College. She was the daughter of the late R. A. and Irene Morris and married the love of her life, James Will Gunter, also of Ozark. She was a very active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church for 60 plus years where she taught 9th grade girls and Encouragers Sunday School class. She loved cooking “Friday night suppers” weekly for years and Holiday meals. The love she had for her children, grandchildren, great-grands and family was unconditional.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Zorro Morris, and sister-in-law, Gayle Morris.
Survivors include her son, Bibb Gunter (Carla); her daughters, Sondra Price (John) and Starla Weston (Joe); her grandsons, Gunter Price (Kari Beth), Raleigh Price (Christen), Stetson Nichols (Catie) and Gavin Gunter; her great-grandchildren, Adeline, Maralee, John Turner, Ridley, Maggie, Clayton, Raleigh James and Beckett Nichols; her brother, Bobby Morris (Mary); her sister-in-law, Nadine Seifried; and several very loved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a special thanks to her caregivers, Theresa, Denise, Melanie, and Marla as well as Kristen and Daisy of DaySprings Hospice.
