Mrs. Pearl Brannon Powell went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, December 10, 2011.  She was 97.


 


Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Richard Thorn and Rev. Duane Hicks officiating.  Burial will follow in the Liberty Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, December 11, from 4 until 6 p.m.


 


Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to your favorite charity.


 


Mrs. Powell was born July 29, 1914 in Geneva County, Alabama.  Affectionately known as “Granny Pearl”, she was the last surviving child of 10 born to the late Webster and Etta Fulford Brannon.  After several years of employment, she retired from Van Heusen and Wex-Tex as a seamstress. Mrs. Powell attended Abundant Life Church.


 


In addition to her parents, her husband, Millard Bryant Powell, and a son-in-law, Bob Lore, preceded her in death.


 


Survivors include two daughters: Janie Powell Lore, Newnan, GA, Jeanette Thurston (John), Samson; three grandchildren: Paul Thurston, Samson, Jeanea Posey (Ben), Mobile, David Lore, Newnan, GA; four great-grandchildren: Josh and Hunter Thurston, both of Samson, Bry and Cassidy Posey, both of Mobile; several special nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
