Obituary: Mrs. Peggy Swords Simmons

 

Mrs. Peggy Swords Simmons of Slocomb passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at her home. She was 86. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Malvern Baptist Church with Rev. Hosea Parker officiating.

 In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Mrs. Simmons’s memory. 

Mrs. Simmons was born December 1, 1937 in Blakley Georgia to the late James Luna and Mamie Frances McKnight Swords. She worked at Sears for 28 years. After her employment with Sears, she worked at Dillards for 16 years before retiring. 

In addition to her parents, her sister, Linda Gordon preceded her in death. 

Survivors include two daughters: Penny Spradlen and Lisa Boykin; son, Dennis McGowan; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; siblings: Herbert Swords (Gail), Blakley, GA, Margie Murkerson, (Ludon), Dothan AL, Wayne Swords (Bonnie), Columbia, AL, and Tony Swords (Charlotte), Natchitoches LA; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
