ARITON…. Mrs. Rita Jones Williams, a resident of Ariton, died early Sunday morning, July 12, 2020 in Dale Medical Center. She was 65.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 16, 2020 in Calvary Assembly of God Church, near Clio, with Pastor Randy Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Universalist Cemetery in Ariton. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.


            Mrs. Williams, daughter of the late Grady Jones and Bertha Mae Sullivant Jones, was a native and lifelong resident of Ariton. She was employed with area nursing homes as a P.C.A. (Patient Care Assistant) and also worked as a private sitter for many years. Mrs. Williams was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Ariton. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry “Hank” Williams, III; a son, Christopher Lee Williams, a sister, Peggy Bodie; two brothers, Ed Jones and Edward Jones.


            Surviving relatives include her two daughters, Rita Faye Williams and Shelia Lynn Williams (Michael Rhett); four sons, Bobby Wayne Williams (Vicki Tew); John H. Williams (Brandy), all of Ariton; Adam Wayne Williams (Dina Rush), Panama City, FL.; and Benjamin Lee Williams, Ariton; four sisters, Linda Payne Jones, Clio; Barbara Kidd, Troy; Cathy McKenzie, Dothan; and Susan Jones, Ariton; five brothers, Grady Jones, Ariton; Harry Jones, Dothan; Larry Jones, Mobile; Pete Jones, Clio; and Oscar Jones, Ariton; twenty one grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
