Mrs. Ruthie Merle English Motley of Westville, FL passed away August 28, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 89.

 Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 03, 2022 at West Pittman Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, 801 Bamboo Road, Boone, NC 28607 in her memory.

 Merle was born April 06, 1933 in Holmes Co., FL to the late Floyd and Lula Mae Powell English. She was an avid lover of all things outdoors, especially working in her yard, planting flowers and watching them bud and bloom. She was one who enjoyed thrifting, going to estate sales, yard sales and collecting children’s toys. She was very instrumental in the yearly Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry through Samaritan’s Purse at West Pittman Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member for over 50 years.

 Merle was well known for her quick wit, sense of humor and the kind, giving, selfless golden heart she possessed. Her family and friends knew what an excellent cook she was and she enjoyed family spending quality time together over a meal. She often said how much she loved to hear her children laugh together.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Floy Pearl English, four brothers, Ralph, Ferrell, Colin and Jerry English.

 Merle is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 71 years, Cecil Motley of Westville, FL; five children, Rhonda Joiner (Jesse), Becky Motley and Gordon Motley all of Westville, FL, Lisa Peeples (Forrest) of Palatka, FL and Christy Paul (Lee) of Bonifay, FL; ten grandchildren, Jesse Joiner, III (Audrey), Katie Joiner Castaneda (Nate), Ashley Motley Porter (Michael), Raven Motley Clark (Andrew), Willow Motley (Dustin Basford), Dyan Peeples Deedrick, Michelle Peeples Azula (JD), Justin Peeples, Trey Paul (Laura) and Jacob Paul; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Kelley English of Geneva, AL, two sisters-in-law, Shirley English and Patricia English Jackson, both of Westville, FL and a host of special nieces and nephews and extended family, friends and church family.
