NEWTON… Mrs. Sandra Lynn Mauldin Hudgens, a resident of Newton, died early Sunday morning, September 11, 2022, at her home. She was 59.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 16, 2022, in the Newton Baptist Church with Reverend Shane Traylor officiating. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hudgens will lie in state from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. in the sanctuary of the Newton Baptist Church.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home for funeral expenses.

            Mrs. Hudgens was born August 7, 1963, and was a native of Newton, Alabama and was a 1981 Graduate of Dale County High School. She was formerly employed as a waitress with Cutt’s Restaurant in Enterprise. Mrs. Hudgens enjoyed Alabama Football and loved her k-9 companion, Bama. She was a member of the Newton Baptist Church. Mrs. Hudgens was preceded in death by her father, Gerald E. Mauldin and a brother, Frank Mauldin.

            Surviving relatives include her son, whom she loved dearly, Christopher D. Hudgens, Newton and his father, Gordon Hudgens; her mother, Betty Burnett Mauldin, Newton; her brother, Bill Mauldin (Lucy), Maryville, Tennessee.
