Mrs. Sara Nell Riley, 81, of the Echo Community of Dale County, died Thursday, October 22, 2020, in Flowers Hospital.


Funeral services for Mrs. Riley will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, October 25, 2020, from Echo United Methodist Church with Reverend Phil Craddock officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in Echo United Methodist Church Saturday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.


Mrs. Riley was born May 7, 1939 in Dale County to the late James Irby Riley and Irene Oreal Hicks Riley.  She was a 1957 graduate of Carroll High School in Ozark. Sara Nell was a homemaker and worked in the family poultry business. She was an extremely hard-working person who was an excellent cook.  She loved to watch her soap operas at lunchtime and had to have her special brand of hairspray. Mrs. Riley was a member of Echo United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles David Hughes and Lewie Ray Riley; one daughter-in-law, Carol Carruth Hughes; and one infant brother.


Survivors include her children, Charles Hughes of Echo, Carol Hooks (Bill) of Glennville, Georgia, Tim Riley (Sherri) of the Asbury Community, Sheryl Sketo (Steve) of Midland City; grandchildren, Stacy Phillips (Andy), Hannah Vincent (Ronnie), Eric Thomas, Will Hooks (Lindsay), Lacey Hooks, Spencer Sketo (Kaitlin), Julia Brown (Thomas), Cole Riley (Nadine), Hope Smith (Andy); eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Diane Joyner (Ken) of Dothan.


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Echo United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Linda Ward, 12066 East Highway 27, Newville, Alabama 36353.
