Sarah Segrest Lane, 89, of Dothan, passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2019 in Dothan.


Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home with the Dr. Dan Tankersley of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, one hour prior to the service at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.


Sarah was born May 16, 1930 in Dothan to Mr. & Mrs. Charles Wade Segrest. She attended Dothan City Schools, graduating from Dothan High School in 1948. She attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga. and The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where she was a member of Tri-Delta sorority. After working briefly as a laboratory technician in Hartford, Ala., Sarah married her high school sweetheart, Billy Love Lane, on December 1, 1956 in Dothan.


Sarah was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. For almost 50 years she was an active member, and dedicated preschool worker, at Calvary Baptist Church.  Sarah enjoyed golf, sunbathing, camping, garden study club, and her beloved pets, but most of all she enjoyed following her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.   


Sarah is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Wade and Mattie Lou Howell Segrest, her son, Charles Love Lane, and a granddaughter, Heather Marie Lane. 


Sarah is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Billy Love Lane, her daughter, Lucinda Lane Harrison (Stacey), three grandsons, Ben Tankersley (Stephanie), Dan Tankersley (Anna) and Dustin Harrison (Millicent) and six great-grandchildren.


Pallbearers will be Stacey Harrison (son-in-law), Ben Tankersley, Dan Tankersley, and Dustin Harrison (grandsons)


Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, 1314 Westgate Parkway, Suite 2, Dothan, Al. 36303. http://www.wesharethecare.org/.
