OZARK…Mrs. Shirley Childree Browning, a resident of the Beamon Community, near Ozark, died late Friday afternoon, March 31, 2023, in Dale Medical Center. She was 86.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 4, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Joe Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in the Arguta Community. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.


             In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Paul Shipes, 909 CR 72, Ariton, Alabama 36311 or the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, 1314 Westgate Parkway, Suite 2, Dothan, Alabama 36303.


            Mrs. Browning, daughter of the late Arthur Amos Childree and Thelma Lilly Andrews, was a native and lifelong resident of Dale County. She was a graduate of Dale County High School in Ozark. In earlier years, she was employed with the Bank of Ozark and Ozark Christian School. Mrs. Browning was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Jimmy “Jim” Browning; two sisters, Dorothy Byrd and Sara Summerford.


                    Surviving relatives include her daughter, Sherrie Browning Nason (Frank), Suwanee, Georgia; her son, Terry Lee Browning (Barbara Bueno), Miami, Florida; her sister, Patricia Memrick (Joseph), Tallahassee, Florida; brother-in-law, Owen Summerford, Midland City; relatives from the Browning family, Karen Browning, Missouri, Bob Gibson, Lexington, Kentucky, Larry Browning (Nancy), Kitts Hill, Ohio; step-granddaughter, Luyushu Nason.
