Shirley Lawson Pettie, a resident of Ashford, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at her residence. She was 77.

Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 15, 2022 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Rev. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; Southern Care Hospice, 2570 Montgomery Hwy, STE 2, Dothan, AL 36303.

Shirley was born April 25, 1944 in Covington County, Alabama to the late Van Buren and Ada Lee Henley Lawson. She moved to the Dothan, Ashford area in 1991 and was a Seamstress at Warner’s until its closure. Along with being a loving mother and grandmother, Shirley was a devout Christian and a Prayer Warrior for her family.  She attended Bethel Baptist Church.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Pettie; daughter, Pamela Pettie; siblings, Maxine Scurlock and Louie Lawson.

Survivors include her sons, Robert Keith Pettie (Stephanie) and Kevin Reese Pettie (Melissa); grandchildren, Tatum Elaine, Robert Kaleb, Joshua Martin and Jacob Reese; great grandchild, CJ McClendon and a sister, Charlene Reither; many beloved nieces and nephews.
