Julia "Terry" Watkins McKissack, passed away peacefully at her residence on February 1, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 6, 1953, in Houston County, Alabama, Terry was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.



Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tim Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Reginal Watkins and Nadine Collins Watkins, two sisters Beverly McJunkins and Bobbie Howell. A brother, Jeff Watkins.



She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, by her husband of 47 years, Charles McKissack, her daughter April McCoy (Clayton), her son Jeffrey McKissack, and her grandchildren Charlie, William, Henry, Margaret Ann, and Mary Collins McCoy. Her brothers Joel Watkins (Gloria) and Craig Watkins (Melinda), along with numerous nieces and nephews.



Terry's career of 30 years with the telephone company was marked by dedication and warm interactions with everyone she connected with. After retiring, she found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly with her church friends at Ridgecrest Baptist church, spending quality time with her family and doting on her precious grandchildren who were the joy of her life.

Terry McKissack a faith-filled woman, whose presence was a source of strength and inspiration. Her warmth, compassion, and boundless ability to see the good in others made her an unforgettable pillar of her community. Terry will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and comfort those she loved so dearly.
