Mrs. Thelma (Sis) L. Carnes of Slocomb went home to be with her Lord and Savior at her residence on Sunday, October 30, 2011.  She was 67.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Slocomb with Rev. Terry Glover and Rev. Teddy Ward officiating.  Burial will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. 

After a long joyous life with her family, she was escorted into Heaven with God’s Amazing Grace.  As she departed this life for Heaven’s Kingdom, Thelma (Sis) will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a treasured friend by many.  Thelma’s greatest joy was her family.  

Thelma was born on May 12, 1944 in Hawkinsville, GA to the late Clinton and Rosie Middlebrooks.  She was a member of Union Baptist Church.  Thelma worked at Tri-Glas in Daleville, AL for 23 years as a Supervisor. 

Her parents as well as a brother, Robert Griffin, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years:  Earl Carnes of Slocomb; one daughter:  Connie Carnes of Slocomb; two sons:  James Carnes and his fiancé, Nicki Watson, of Slocomb, Tim Carnes and his wife, Kendra, of Louisville; two sisters and brothers-in-law:  Nedra and Terry Glover, Susie and Darrell Meadors all of Slocomb; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Gentiva Hospice for the love and care shown to the entire Carnes family during this difficult time.
