Mrs. Vera Lorene Loggins Vice, of Demopolis, Alabama, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023. She was 85 years old.

Mrs. Vice was born August 15, 1937 in Jefferson County, Alabama to the late Thurman and Nellie Loggins. She was raised “on the river” where her father was employed with the Corps of Engineers and her mother was a commercial fisherman. The love of the river never waned in her heart and she lived near one the remainder of her life. One of her greatest enjoyments in later life was the simple pleasure of sitting at the rivers edge watching the water pass by.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Vice; one sister, Francis Loggins; one brother, George Loggins; one great grandson, Ryder Barnes. Lorene leaves behind four children, Sherline Hudson (Mike) of Columbia, Alabama, Lynn Laham (David) of Wichita, Kansas, Cecil “Bubba” Cook Jr. (Rebecca) of Cowarts, Alabama and Buddy Vice (Debbie) of Thomaston, Alabama; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Paul, K. C., Tiffany, Tasha and Zach; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; special friends, Brother Ed and Mrs. Mary Pickel, Devon Saucier and Carl McKenzie.

Her family would like to thank her wonderful care-team at Oakview Manor and Southern Care Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Souls Animal League, 1702 North Eufaula Avenue, Eufaula, Alabama 36027. God’s peace is permanent and secure.
