Mrs. Vera Virginia Davis, 94, went home to be with her Lord on June 29, 2019 at her house in Slocomb, Alabama.


She was born in Quincy, Florida to the late William and Willie Kent. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Davis; son, Charles Davis; and daughter, Ginger Golden. Three sisters, Mary Edna Valentino, Ethel Underwood, and Nettie Youngblood and three brothers, Orther Kent, Theodore Kent, and Leo Kent also preceded her in death.


Vera is survived by two sons, Jim Davis (Mylene) of Knoxville, Georgia and Danny Davis (Sonia) of Slocomb; two daughters, Vivian Davis of Duluth, Georgia and Tammy Bryant (Steve) of Slocomb; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.


Vera was a long time resident of Slocomb. She loved her Church, growing flowers and vegetables, and fishing; but her life work and joy was caring for and loving on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, July 1, 2019 from the First Baptist Church in Slocomb with Reverend David Williams officiating. A private graveside for family will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service at the church.
