Obituary:  Mrs. Verna Sue Sorrells

 

Mrs. Verna Sue Sorrells of Hartford passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at her home.  She was 86. 

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, 2021 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Sammy Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery on County Road 69, Hartford. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning and 1:00 p.m. until service time. 

Mrs. Sorrells was born November 6, 1935 in Geneva County to the late Allen Virgil and Lela Smith Norman. Sue was a great woman of faith and a dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church in Hartford.  She was an avid gardener and was especially found of her daylilies. 

In addition to her parents, husband, Roy Lee Sorrells; infant daughter, Ramona Sorrells; son, Paul Allen Sorrells, sister, Doris Pritchett; brothers: Etheridge Norman and Pat Norman, all preceded her in death. 

Survivors include her son, Glenn Lee Sorrells (Lisa); grandchildren: Christopher Allen Sorrells, Jesse Lee Sorrells (Elizabeth), and Chadwick Lamar Sorrells (Tasha); great grandson, Kaden Lee Sorrells; siblings: Sara Howell, Nellie Howell, and Edna Hamm (George); several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
