Vida Mitchell Granger of Cottonwood passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022, after a long courageous battle with IPF. She was 74 years old.  


Vida was born on March 16, 1948, to the late Hardy and Ada Mitchell. In June of 1968, Vida married the love of her life, Lorrin Granger. Together they raised three hardworking and loving children. Vida was a member of Cottonwood First Baptist Church for many years. She dedicated 29 years of work to the Houston County Board of Education. Vida enjoyed many hobbies, which included working in her yard, cooking, sewing, reading, watching hummingbirds, and spending times with her babies.


In addition to her parents, Vida is preceded in death by her Husband of 50 years, Lorrin Granger, sisters, Sarah and Verline; brother, Tom; brother-in-law, Bill; and sister-in-law, Erin.


Survivors include daughter, Angie Granger; sons, James Granger (Hannah) and Clint Granger (Jessica); 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  


Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Cottonwood with burial to follow at Cottonwood City Cemetery.


The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, August 22, 2002, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.


Special thanks to Kindred Palliative Care, and a special friend, Nonie Hall for countless laughs.


Pallbearers will be, Clint Granger, John David Lewis, Danny Lewis, Seth Walden, Randy Hall, and Trenton Hall. Acting as Honorary Pallbearers will be, Remington Granger and Gunner Granger.
