Willie Lee Elmore Strickland died Saturday, May 30, 2015 after having a stroke. She was 97.


 


Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Monday, June 1, 2015 at Rehobeth Baptist Church with Brother Travis Free and Danny Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Rehobeth Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church. The family will be accepting flowers or donations may be made to Rehobeth Baptist Church Building Fund or Alacare Hospice.


 


Mrs. Strickland spent most of her life in the Rehobeth community as a farmer’s wife, a sitter for the sick and disabled, and a friend to all.


 


In addition to her parents, Ezzie and Ethel Lee McNeil Elmore, she is preceded in death by her husband, Verlin Strickland; two brothers and a sister-in-law.


 


Surviving relatives are a daughter, Martha (Hulon) Todd; granddaughters, Tana Cristiano and Sandy (Tim) Weadon; great-grandchildren, Philip Hamrick and Lee Ella Weadon; and a great-great-grandson, Bradley Hamrick, all of Dothan; three sisters, Myrle Rollins of Tampa, FL, Lucille Scott of Dothan, and Zelma Huddleston of Bradenton, FL; a sister-in-law, Nell Elmore of Dothan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


 


Serving as pallbearers are David Ethridge, Matt Pollard, Robert McGriff, Mike Kelly, Bobby Thomley, and Larry Roberts.


 


Thanks for the great care given by Dr. Robeson for so many years and Alacare (Shawn, Beth, Tracie and April).
