Ms. Eva Jean Tatum Whitman, a resident of Ozark, died Sunday, January 5, 2020, in Dale Medical Center. She was eighty-one years old.


Funeral services will be held for Ms. Whitman 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2020, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend  Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating.  Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends Wednesday morning at the funeral home in Ozark from 11:00 A.M. until service time.


Ms. Whitman was born January 9, 1938 in the Roeton Community of Coffee County, Alabama to the late James Floyd Tatum and Lois Eunice Sanders Tatum.  She lived most of her life in Ozark and worked with Civil Service at Fort Rucker for thirty-two years, retiring in 1994.  Ms. Whitman loved growing flowers and playing the piano. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Christopher Whitman; one sister, Sandra Rome; and two brothers, James Tatum and Jerl Tatum.


Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Kay and Keith Trawick of Newville, Teresa Diane and Billy Hill of Ozark; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul Wesley and D. J. Whitman of Cairo, Georgia; one sister, Martha Grice of Mobile; seven grandchildren, Brandy Miller (Drew), Laura Young, Daniel Trawick (Genevieve), Ben Jimmerson (Laura), Will Jimmerson (Keltin), Lauren Whitman and Neal Whitman; great grandchildren, Whitley Preston, Libby Miller, Landri Miller, Leighton Miller, Grayson Jimmerson, Cylas Young and Sydney Young.
