OZARK… Ms. Jaquita Wilkerson Childree, a resident of Ozark, died early Tuesday evening, July 11, 2023, at her home. She was 80.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 14, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Adams officiating. A eulogy will be given by Mrs. Shirley Wilkerson. Burial will follow in Elam Baptist Church Cemetery in Elamville. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.


            Ms. Childree, daughter of the late Luther Wilkerson and Desser Phillips Wilkerson, was a native of Clio where she was a 1963 Graduate of Barbour County High School. She formerly lived in Phenix City before moving to Ozark. Ms.  Childree retired from Bell’s Welding & Machine Shop in Abbeville as the payroll clerk. She was an avid Atlanta Braves Fan, regardless of their wins. Ms. Childree’s favorite moments were the ones she spent with her friends on their “days out” and her family. She attended Elam Baptist Church. Ms. Childree was preceded in death by her first husband, Nathan Faulk and their daughter, Teresa Faulk; ex-husband, George Childree, the father of their daughter, Amy Wicker; five brothers, Hervey, Talmadge, Kermit, Cecil, and Wilburn Wilkerson; three sisters, Janella Wilkerson, Mary Threlkeld and Doris Wilkerson.


            Surviving relatives include her daughter, Amy Wicker (Riley), Ozark; grandson, Hayden Wicker, Ozark; granddaughter, Madison Fikes (Spencer), DeFuniak Springs, Florida; step-daughter, Angie Shlam(Norman), Ozark, and their three children, Josh, Chelsea, and Trevor; one brother, Milton Wilkerson (Betty Ann), Clio; two sisters, Lorice Doster, Phenix City and Miriam Brown (Woody), Eufaula; sister-in-law, Shirley Wilkerson, Phenix City; aunt, Ruth Drinkard, Phenix City; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; a loving caregiver, Tracey Gissendanner, Ozark.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Curtis Wilkerson, Wade Wilkerson, Dale Wilkerson, Elton Wilkerson, Chris Wilkerson, and Greg Wilkerson.
