Ms. Mamie Lee Smith Tidwell of Geneva, Alabama went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 17, 2012.  She was 73.


 


Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 21, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Ricky Hall officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, January 20, from 6 until 8 p.m.


 


Ms. Tidwell was born December 4, 1938, in Holmes County, Florida to the late Thomas Jefferson and Maggie Lee Glass Smith.  After 18 years of service she retired from Wiregrass Medical Center where she worked in the dietary department.  As long as her health allowed her she attended Devco Baptist Church where she had been a member for several years.  She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who dearly loved her family.


 


In addition to her parents, a son, Nathan Lee Tidwell, preceded her in death.


 


Survivors include two sons: Revion Tidwell, Charleston, SC, Buck Tidwell (Tonya), Harbor Creek, PA; two daughters: Dianne Smith (Deryle), Summerdale, AL, Kay Weeks, Chipley, FL; two brothers: Jim Smith, Bonifay, FL, Henry Smith (Doris), Westville, FL; two sisters: Tommie Goodson, Pensacola, FL, Mildred Denning, Bellview, FL; nine grandchildren: Nicky Tidwell (Denisha), Ryan Tidwell (fiancé, Hannah Woodall), Reid Tidwell, Travis Smith (Martha), Trey Smith (Alicia), Jessica Mitchell, Diana Weeks, Amanda Kay Lisenby (Dale) and Jeremy Tidwell; nine great-grandchildren and one expected in June; special friend, Sherel Crews; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
