Mary Nell Smith Caddell, a resident of Ashford, died Friday, September 15, 2023 at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, Florida. She was 78.

Graveside services for Mary will be held at 10 AM Monday, September 18, 2023 at Union Hill Baptist Church cemetery with Pastor Allen Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Union Hill Baptist Church,  7335 S County 33 Rd, Cottonwood, AL 36320.

Mary was born June 14, 1945 in Houston County, Alabama to the late Malcolm Durell and Minnie Ethel Walters Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Houston County and a graduate of Cottonwood High School. Mary was a Telephone Operator with GTE, member of the Red Hat Society and attended Union Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her brother, Terry and Donna Smith; niece, Kim and Clint Huff; nephew, Lee  and Amber Byrd; special cousin, Carrie Dickerson and a special friend, Mary Whitted and other members of the Red Hat Society.
