Ms. Nita Kay Heeder, age 49, a resident of Dothan, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Flowers Hospital.

Celebration of life services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Harvest Church with Pastor Larry Anderson officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the past due meal accounts at Dothan Preparatory Academy in memory of Nita Heeder, 1236 South Oates Street, Dothan, AL  36301.

Nita was born August 11, 1973, in Fort Hood, Texas. She moved to Dothan from Ozark in 1986 and is a 1991 graduate of Dothan High School. Nita graduated from Troy University in Dothan with a degree in business. She worked as a sales representative for KMX and WOOF FM for several years. Nita also worked with special education students at Heard Elementary School. She attended Harvest Church in Dothan.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Virginia McGonagill and a special niece, Mary Elizabeth Clay.

Survivors include her mother, Maxine Heeder of Dothan; daughters, Maxine “Max” Mitchell of Dothan, Calleigh Mitchell of Dothan; brothers, Eddie Heeder (Laura) of Wisconsin, Keith Heeder (Amber) of Guntersville; sister, Sallie Pablo (Frankie) of Dothan; twin sister, Carla Clay (Tony) of Dothan; five nieces, Nikki, Sarah, Jeannie, Autumn, and Meagan; six nephews, Michael, David, J.T., Tom, Lee, and Travis.
