OZARK… Ms.  Susie Sims Tuck, a resident of Ozark, died early Thursday afternoon, January 26, 2023. She was 87.

            Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 30, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with her son, Reverend Ken Tuck, Reverend Mike Shroades, and Pastor Randy Adams officiating. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memory Gardens following the service. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.

             In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to be made to Love In Action International Ministries, PO Box 85, Dothan, AL 36302.

            Ms. Susie, daughter of the late Travis Sims and Corine Shirah Sims, was a native of Ozark. She was a graduate of Dale County High School in 1953.  She graduated from Troy State Teacher’s College in 1956 with a Batchelor’s degree and from West Georgia in 1977 with a Masters degree in Elementary Education. She was awarded Teacher of the Year in 1996 and 1997.  Ms. Susie taught school for forty years, grades first, third and fourth. She taught fifth grade one year and told the principal not to ever put her back in that grade or she would quit. 

 

             Ms. Susie was a founding board member of Love In Action International Ministries and served faithfully as a volunteer for over twenty years. She shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ from New York, Louisiana, Georgia, throughout Alabama and to the Philippines. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Ozark. In addition to traveling, Ms. Susie also loved to do yard work and cut grass. She hated Bahia grass and would pull up the sprigs or cut them with scissors in between each grass cutting. 

 

              In the last days of Ms. Susie’s life, you wouldn’t find her without a word search book, her checkbook or her pockets full of Kleenex. Ms. Susie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ralph Tuck. 

 

              Leaving behind so many precious  memories and a great legacy to her three children Donna (Ed) Reid, Ozark, Mickey (Sandy) Tuck, Silver Creek, GA, and Ken (Martha) Tuck, Dothan; her sister, Shirley Carter; five grandchildren James (Harlie) Reid, Brett (Brittany) Reid, Colby (Starla) Reid, all of Ozark, Travis (Tabatha) Tuck, Rome, GA and Savannah Tuck of  Silver Creek, GA; twelve great grandchildren, Brian (Alli), Jared, Darla (Mel), Lanorion, Kenny, Wyatt, Matti, Sofia, Landon, Rylee, Westlynn and Abi Sue; one great great grandchild, Sophia.
