   MSG Rex Denton McLaughlin (United States Army, Retired), a resident of Ozark, passed away Friday morning, February 3, 2023, at his home. He was 92 years old.


   Funeral services for MSG McLaughlin will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 7, 2023, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Scott Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.


   The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.


   MSG McLaughlin was born March 12, 1930 in Santa Rosa County, Florida to the late David Bury McLaughlin and Ora Estelle Williams McLaughlin. He served in the United States Army for twenty-two years until his retirement. His service included the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Following his military retirement, he worked at Fort Rucker with various military contractors. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark where he served as a Deacon. MSG McLaughlin enjoyed various outdoor activities. He lived a long and loved life.


   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Keith McLaughlin; four sisters and six brothers.


   Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Alline Johnson McLaughlin; daughter-in-law, Sherri McLaughlin; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Daphne McLaughlin; granddaughters, Kristi Smith (Josh) and Amy Helton (Brad); grandson, Clint McLaughlin; great grandson, Cooper Smith; great granddaughters, Taylor Helton, Katelynn Smith, and Harper Helton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.


   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1971 Deese Road, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
