MSG Russell B. Florence (United States Army, Retired) of Ozark, Alabama died Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was 85 years old.

MSG Florence was born April 12, 1933 in Millersburg, Kentucky to the late R. L. Florence and Lena Mae Duckworth Florence. He served in the United States Army for twenty-four years until his retirement.  Following his military service, MSG Florence taught high school English in New Mexico. He loved music and was a gifted string instrumental player.

Survivors include three daughters, Cassie Embry (Jerry) of Ozark, Lena Florence of Ozark, and Susan B. Theriault of Texas; two sons, Gregory L. Florence (Netsie) of Frankfort, Kentucky, Russell Benton Florence II of Kentucky. Eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
