Mrs. Myra Snell Ward, age 90, formerly of Cottonwood, AL died Monday, May 15, 2017 in Greenville, SC.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at First Baptist Church Cottonwood with Reverend John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Cottonwood City Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.

The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, at the church prior to the services.

Myra was born August 31, 1926 in Houston County, AL the daughter of the late Fred Porter Snell and Odessa Hall Snell. She was a graduate of Cottonwood High School and attended Auburn University. Myra worked for 35 years with the US Postal Service, having worked in Cottonwood, Gordon and Dothan prior to her retirement from the Dothan Post Office. She is a member of the First Baptist Church, Cottonwood.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Dodson Ward and a daughter, Susan Ward Halstead.

Survivors include: Son, Fred (Patsy) Ward, Bella Vista, AR; 2 daughters, Nancy Ward (Steven) Dunston, Mills River, NC; Lynda Ward (Carl) Sykes, Easley, SC; grandchildren, David Ward, Angie Valentine, Carla Moody, Phyllis Hee, Michael Lackey, Laura Sykes and Grace Von Kaenel; 5 great-grandchildren and several cousins, aunts, and uncles.
