COLUMBIA. . .Nancy Crawford Rivenbark, a resident of Columbia, died Monday night, August 28, 2017, in the Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center in Dothan. She was 78.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 31, 2017, in the First Baptist Church of Columbia with Pastor Justin Smith and Reverend Tony Deese officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia City Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Columbia, P.O. Box 267, Columbia, AL 36319.

Mrs. Rivenbark was born and reared in Dothan, daughter of the late Edward Rutledge Crawford and Mabel Emily Harris Crawford. She was a graduate of Dothan High School and attended Sullins College in Virginia. Mrs. Rivenbark was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Emily Crawford Creel, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, W. C. (Bill) and Martha Rivenbark, a brother-in-law, Albert Rivenbark, a sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Avery Crawford and a great-granddaughter, Callie Grace Rivenbark.

On November 23, 1960, Nancy married David and they began their lives together.  She changed from a city lady to a small town farm lady.  She made the transition with the greatest of ease.   The raising of three boys was challenging but she knew how to handle them because of her background.  Nancy was a homemaker, but worked in the fields with the hay baling and helped manage their cattle operation.  This was necessary, because of David’s school responsibilities. Nancy was an essential part of her family’s success.  Her family and friends will greatly miss her unique personality, devotion, and love.

Surviving relatives include her husband, David Lee Rivenbark; three sons, Lee Rivenbark (Camille), Lubbock, TX; Edward Rivenbark (Mary Asher), Covington, LA; and Dr. Bill Rivenbark (Rebecca), Chapel Hill, NC; a brother, Rutledge Crawford, Dothan; a sister-in-law, Laura Jean Rivenbark, Hartford, AL; nine grandchildren, Dustin Rivenbark (Aimee), Emily Crawford Rivenbark, Will Rivenbark, Mary Charles Rivenbark, David Rivenbark, Jay Rivenbark, Mallie Rivenbark, Whit Rivenbark and Ryn Rivenbark; a great-granddaughter, Brianna Rivenbark; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Terry Pitchford, David Pitchford, John Pitchford, Greg Williams, Andy Williams and Pete Lee.
