MIDLAND CITY…Nellie Ruth Morrell Bowman, a resident of Midland City, died Tuesday morning, February 22, 2022, at her home. She was 89.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, February 26, 2022, in the Sanctuary of Praise with Reverend Ricky Martin  officiating and a eulogy to be given by Cody Chandler. Burial will follow in the Midland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from  5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the family residence. Holman Headland  Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Bowman was born and reared in the Midland City area where she lived most of her lifetime. She was a member of the Sanctuary of Praise in Midland City. Mrs. Bowman was retired form Extendicare Health & Rehab as a Nurse’s Aide after thirty-nine years employment. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse James Morrell and Lillie Mae Broxton Morrell, her husband, George Bowman, a son Bill M. Bowman, a sister, Frances Morrell, and three brothers, Coy Ray Morrell, John Preston Morrell and Jack Morrell.

Surviving relatives include three daughters, Joann Jackson (Wayne), Kinston, AL;

 Rebecca Clark, Midland City, and Mary Davis, Dothan; two sons, Willie Gene Bowman, Midland City and Donald Bowman (Betty), Napier Field; four sisters, Emma Loudell Woods and Louise Peterman, both of Dothan; Sandra Mae Henderson, Newton; and Betty Jean Davis, Dothan; a brother, James Ray Morrell, Cowarts, AL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be her grandsons. 

The family would like to express their appreciation to Encompass Hospice and all their nurses for the loving care and kindness shown to "Miss Nellie" during her illness.
