Opal L. Woodham




Opal L. Woodham, 87, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Flowers Hospital.


 


Graveside services will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Rev. Robert Oates and Rev. Henry Morris officiating. Memorial services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church Chapel with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends in the chapel following the memorial service.


 


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, “Missions Fund”, 3012 West Main St., Dothan, AL, 36305.


 


Mrs. Woodham was born January 25, 1925 in Grady, County, Georgia, the youngest of 11 children. She lived the early years of her life in Whigham, Georgia where she graduated from high school. She then entered the U.S. Army where she served in World War II before being honorably discharged as Sergeant. After moving to Dothan she completed Business College and worked as a bookkeeper. She then began her career at Hedstrom which spanned for over 30 years prior to her retirement as quality control supervisor. After retirement she was employed in the office of the day care program at First Presbyterian Church for several years. Mrs. Woodham enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts and reading historical novels. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and was very devoted to the Missions Committee of the church.


 


She is predeceased by her husband, Charles Henderson Woodham.


 


She is survived by her son, Dr. Michael Woodham (Deborah) of Miami, FL; two grandchildren, Michael Titus Woodham and Hannah Leah Bartholomew; two great-grandchildren, Penelope and Beatrix; several nieces and nephews also survive.
