Otha Eugene “Jay” Jones of Geneva, AL passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023. He was 30 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor James Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.

The repass following the funeral service will be held at St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 611 Florida Street, Geneva, AL 36340

Jay was born in Ft. Rucker, AL on November 5, 1992. Jay graduated from Geneva High School in 2011, where he played football and basketball. After high school he attended Enterprise Junior College and Wallace Community College. In his earlier years, Jay was employed at Geneva Walmart where he made countless friends.  At the time of his death, Jay was employed at Ft. Rucker where he served as secretary for the local union at the base. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, and watching Alabama Football. Jay was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He had a million-dollar smile that would brighten the darkest of days. Jay will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Otha Eugene Jones, step-father, Roger “Sean” Felder; grandparents, Danny B. and Nellie B. Jones, Helen Ferbee, Ella Felder, and Shirlene Dickens; a very special friend, Tate Sutherland.

Jay is survived by his wife Cierra Jones; children, Sebastian Rhett and Lennox Jayne Jones; mother, Louise Jones; special cousins, Lakeisha “Girly” Jones Stokes and Daidai Jones; Bria Brooks, who was like a sister; aunts, Cathryn Jones, and Lakisha Jessie; uncles, Ronald Jones (Carolyn), Donald Jones (Annette), Darryl Jenkins, and Rodney Felder;  mother-in-law, Tammy Waters (Mark Chapman); sister-in-law, Heather Martin (Jacob); brother-in-law, Noah Chapman (Caroline); many special cousins and friends; nephews, Baylor, Ben, and Beau Kreek; and his God Mother, Elephenia Broxton.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Walt Kimbro, Reid Tidwell, Cody Shoemaker, Brad Horne, Benjamin McQueen, Zach Morgan, Deandre Dickens, and Eric French.
